16 Iconic American companies founded by immigrants
SUMMARY: An article by the Huffington Post released a slideshow, showing some iconic companies in America founded by immigrant workers. This included the companies: Google, Comcast, Ebay, Yahoo, and more. These immigrant-founded companies were apart of the Fortune 500- a ordered list of the top American companies based on annual revenue- and were responsible for the employment of 3.6 million workers worldwide in 2011. These companies are also responsible for the $1.7 trillion in revenues in 2010, according to the Partnership for a New American Economy. These companies have had a tendency to be successful in the United States and, in return, give back to the American economy. A 2012 report found that the population of immigrants were more than twice as like to start a businesses as someone born in America. Along with that is job creation, immigrant-run businesses employed one in 10 American workers, as of 2011.
